The canvas shows the preparation and pipettes at the scale set in the column on the right. By default the normal mouse zooming operations are turned off - to turn them on click the mouse scalable option.
Pipettes may be moved with the mouse, or keyboard arrow keys. To make a patch, poistion the tip of the pipette on the desired cell, selecte the patch type, and click "make patch". If it is successful, the type of patch will be indicated beside the tip of the pipette.
